Redundancy can happen when you close your business or the employees workplace or when their is a diminshing need for a particular type of work.


Jobcentre Plus 

Jobcentre Plus can offer you support in a redundancy situation. We will tailor our services to meet your needs. We will work closely with our Marketing Managers to ensure we provide you with the level of service that you require. We will support your staff on how best to access Jobcentre Plus Services.

Kirkby Employment and Education Project (KEEP) 

Kirkby Unemployed Centre (KUC) offers a comprehensive work skills package to local businesses in redundancy situations. Skilled and experienced teams of Career Guidance Officers, Welfare Rights Advisors and Basis Skills tutors are on hand to equip people with the skills and information necessary to cope with the redundancy situation and offer new opportunity for future employment.

The redundancy assistance portfolio illustrates this efficient and successful programme, which will provide peace of mind for your workforce in uncertain time.

  • Help with application forms

  • Job search

  • Interview skills

  • Welfare rights

  • Basic skills and ICT

Our team of advisors are all qualified to national standards in Advice and in Teaching. They can offer bespoke training packages to suit all of the workforce. Versatile and friendly, the team can deliver this package on- site or at Kirkby Unemployed Centre’s well-resourced building.


Courses 

Courses include:

  • Job search – learning how to decipher job adverts, where current vacancies are found and how to use the Internet for job search

  • CV writing and Application Forms - Learn how to create a winning CV. Uncover the mystery of the ‘additional information’ section of the application form. Discover the art of self-promotion through CV’s and application forms.

  • Interview Skills – improve your confidence at interview. Learn about the importance of non-verbal communication. Tackle tough interview questions.

  • Presentation Skills – public speaking, prepare, write and deliver powerful presentations with confidence at interview.

In addition to group sessions, the guidance team offer the opportunity for those members of staff affected by redundancy to attend individual advice sessions. The project offers individual advice and guidance to assist career choice, application forms, interview skills and job search.
